Edguy - The Asylum

Hoje tive alguns probleminhas em postar mais cedo, mas não me esqueci do compromisso firmado com a criação deste blog.

A escolha de hoje é de uma banda que começou como uma banda de metal, mas que se tornou muito melhor quando abraçou o Hard Rock com orgulho. O som deles é muito bom e se mostra saboroso para instrumentistas e não instrumentistas. Ou seja, você pdoe ouvir somente para ficar tentando tocar igual a eles ou somente para curtir.

Eu conheci essa banda tardiamente graças a um grande amigo meu que, guitarrista, falou certo dia para mim: "escuta isso aqui" e colocou Save Me no talo. Quando ouvi, fazia muito tempo (mas muito mesmo) que não ouvia uma música tão interessante que me fizesse repti-la várias vezes para ver se era só uma primeira impressão forte ou se a dita cuja era boa mesmo. Essa faixa faz parte do álbum Rocket Ride de 2006. Isso, um álbum bom de hard Rock do século XXI. Esse tipo de coisa é possível. Contudo, havia ficado somente nessa faixa durante um bom tempo. Certo dia, porém, esse mesmo amigo falou para que escutasse a faixa que vinha antes e que era muito melhor. Como ele havia acertado na mosca da outra vez, não tive receio de fazer o mesmo uma vez mais. E, realmente, é uma faixa mais complexa musicalmente e muito mais bem trabalhada que Save Me. E foi esta que escolhi para compartilhar: The Asylum. As letras das canções são muito interessantes e versam de vários assuntos diferentes. Seja de crítica social ou à modernidade.

A banda foi formada em 1992 por Tobias Sammet, Jens Ludwig, Dirk Sauer e Dominik Storch na Alemanha. O nome parece vir do professor de matemática que tinham na época. Destes, somente o baterista saiu da formação original em 1997 cedendo o lugar a Felix Bohnke. E o baixista Tobias Exxel somente tornou-se membro oficial da banda no mesmo ano. O vocalista é conhecido também pelo seu projeto composto por várias figuraas conhecidas do Heavy Metal, a banda Avantasia.
